Armenia’s Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan received today the Vice-President of the Russian Railways state-run company Andrei Starkov and CEO of the South-Caucasus Railway (SCR) Sergei Valko, the press service of the Armenian government said.
Prime Minister Karapetyan attached importance to the initiation and implementation of regional programs to promote communication and tourism in the region.

The state-owned Russian Railways (RZD) is preparing to break off the agreement with Armenia, claiming that its authorities are blocking the operation of its subsidiary South Caucasus Railway (SCR), which operates the Armenian railways.

The South Caucasus Railway (SCR), a subsidiary of state-owned Russian Railways, operating Armenia's railroads , has gone on strike, Yerkir.am reported.
Sasna Tsrer, one of Armenia's political parties, issued Friday a statement demanding the country's authorities to call those robbing the railway to account and remind the Russian side the terms of the handover of the railway to the South Caucasus Railways CJSC, which is a subsidiary of the Russian Railways OJSC for concession management.
